Someone asked me recently why I wasn’t a painter. It isn’t that I don’t like painting, it is that I enjoy the process of collage more. I like rummaging through my collection of papers, cutting them into tiny pieces, finding the right combination, and creating something new. Using all of these little pieces allows me to explore the complexities of my experiences — love, motherhood, illness, etc. Many of my recent pieces can be found in my online shop on Etsy.
After years of working solely in collage, I have been dabbling in making art quilts. It all started with an idea to turn some baby clothes into a memory quilt. Then a PBS show on art quilts really sparked my interest. A few summers ago I was fortunate to take a class with Pamela Allen, and the rest is history! Now I can’t get enough of it and my fabric stash is growing although still not to the size of my paper collection!
